SWORD! and the CROWS playtest
The Crows crowdfunder launched this morning, and with it a video by Mr. Colville [link]. About 27 minutes into the video he mentions SWORD!, a zine I'm working on for Crows.
I showed off the cover a while back in the MCDM discord as a way to force myself to follow through and finish the thing.
Issue 1 will contain
an article about leaving your humanity behind aka playing non-human characters. heavily inspired by the works of Luke Gearing
maybe an article on hex crawling procedures I use in my other dungeon-based games. I'm not sure if I want to include this one because it's based on old D&D and might be funky to bolt onto Crows.
Play-reports of my Crows games and maybe some other games I'm playing/running at the moment. This will largely depend on available page count.
The Fire Dungeon, previously blogged about here now called "THE FIRE-LORD'S REDOUBT".
All of the monsters, and equipments, and other goodies within the dungeon.
TIMELINE
I'm targeting end of this month for the release.
Article 1 is done.
Article 2 is technically done but I'm still trying to figure out if I want to actually include it.
Play Reports will be done after the session on Saturday morning
Fire Dungeon is done, I'd really like to get one or two more rounds of testing in before I release it.
Lay-out is 90% done. Adjusting image and map placement. I'd love to have the dungeon map on the inside cover, so you can remove it from the rest of the zine for use at the table.
I will be releasing the digital copy on my itch page, and will post a link here, and probably in the mcdm discord when it's up. I'm considering a limited print run but I need to do more research...so watch this space!
Gross Mushy Stuff
I wasn't expecting this to be anything anyone would ever be interested in. I set out to create this zine because I freaking love dungeon games, man. I want to share that love with more folks, AND I believe MCDM has something really special with Crows.
...I also wanted to learn and practice layout.
It really means a lot to me that Matt showed it off in the video, and that several people are showing interest.
Thanks for reading, talk to y'all again real soon. Bye-bye now.
